Unsere Schule
Die GGS Heyden ist eine dreizügige Offene Ganztagsschule. Sie liegt im Stadtteil Heyden, der sich einen Kilometer südlich der Stadtmitte von Mönchengladbach Rheydt befindet.
Seitdem wir 2003 von der Gertraudenstraße zur Zingsheimer Straße umgezogen sind, lernen die Kinder in großen, hellen Räumen. Jeder Klassenraum bietet unseren Schülern durch zahlreiche und vielfältige Lern- und Anschauungsmaterialien eine optimale Lernumgebung.
An unserer Schule werden ungefähr 300 Schüler aus unterschiedlichen Nationen unterrichtet. Zum Lehrerkollegium gehören neben den KollegInnen mit Klassenleitung oder im Fachunterricht auch SonderpädagogInnen, SozialpädagogInnen und SchullassistentInnen.
Unterstützt werden wir außerdem durch Bundesfreiwilligendienstleistende. Uns ist es wichtig, dass die Kinder schülerorientiert, individuell und offen unterrichtet werden. Das Erlernen sozialer Kompetenzen liegt uns ganz besonders am Herzen.
Gefördert wird dies z.B. durch kooperatives Lernen, Einsatz der Pausenhelfer, Projekt: Gewaltfrei Lernen, Klassenrat, Feste feiern zur Stärkung der Klassengemeinschaft. Beim gemeinsamen Lernen (GL), das bereits seit 20 Jahren an unserer Schule praktiziert wird, werden Kinder mit besonderem Unterstützungsbedarf gemeinsam von Grundschullehrerinnen und Grundschullehrern sowie Sonderpädagoginnen unterrichtet.
Unsere Offene Ganztagsschule wird dem Bedarf vieler Familien nach einer ganztägigen Betreuung und zusätzlicher Förderung gerecht.
